TO HELP
If you can help or have any information regarding Anna Soto's search for her sister, Diana Morales, contact Soto at 806-702-0778, or by e-mail at ams112703@yahoo.com.
Although they've never met her, sisters Anna Soto and Sandra Gonzales want more than anything to locate their long-lost sister. The women don't have much to go on other than a name and place, but that's not stopping their determination.
The woman they are searching for is Diane or Diana Morales, who was born and raised in Victoria. Soto and Gonzales share the same biological mother as Morales, they said. Soto, 45, said their mother abandoned not only Soto, Gonzales and their two brothers, but Diana and four more children in Oklahoma as well.
"My mother had three families and abandoned us all, a total of nine children," said Soto, who has found all her siblings except Diana. "Knowing that Diana is out there, I just want to find her."
After doing some digging, Soto, who lives in Ralls, Texas, discovered that Morales' father was named Billy Morales. She is probably aged anywhere from 52 to 55 years old and may still live in Victoria or the surrounding area.
"I was excited when Anna told me that she was going to start looking for Diana," said Gonzalez, who lives in San Antonio. "All these years we knew she was out there, but knew nothing about her. I'm very happy I have another sister and I would love to meet her. It would truly be a blessing if we found her."
From what Soto has learned, their mother had Morales in Victoria before running off with her father and having Gonzales and their two brothers in San Antonio, and then ran off again to Oklahoma, where she had four more children with another man. Soto said Morales was probably only 2 or 3 years old when their mother left.
"It's a complicated story. Even I have a hard time with it. But I would just like to meet Diana and build a relationship with her," Soto said. "I want her to know she has brothers and sisters."
While Soto has tried to enlist the help of her estranged mother, who now lives in Oklahoma City, for help in the search, she has been uncooperative, she said. The mother even went as far as to tell Soto to stop digging for more information.
"I've given up hope on my mom. I can't forgive her on my own so I ask God for help. But I'm 45. I don't need a mom anymore, and I've come to terms with it," Soto said. "I just really hope by getting the word out there about my search for my sister, someone will read this and make the connection."
Attempts to reach Soto's mother were unsuccessful.

JLP, so happy for you and your family. And as Aprill says, I look forward to seeing an update after you, your mother, and your extended family have had a chance to meet each other. God bless.
August 4, 2009 at 12:36 p.m.THANKS JLP. I wonder how many more lost sibling situations our readers have or know about? Without trying to reflect on Diane's mama, what possibly could've prompted this lady to dump her kids? Depression? Ruthless hubbies/significant others? Desperation? The desire for "freedom" (how much agony has she suffered through the years over this?)? Other mental problems?
August 4, 2009 at 11:47 a.m.My name is Jennifer, and Diane is my mother.
It's difficult to read a grandmother I've never met, be "uncooperative". Regardless of what effects this may have had on my mom growing up and still, she a WONDERFUL mother and person.
This article quickly brought me to tears...
August 4, 2009 at 11:36 a.m.This is an incredible blessing that her siblings have gone to this extreme to find her. We have always wondered about what family of sisters and brothers she had. I'm excited about what the future holds, and to meet Anna, Sandra, and others!
Just to clarify, since we were unable to reach Soto's mother and give her a chance to comment, we decided to leave her name out of the article.
August 4, 2009 at 9:44 a.m.Also I did receive a call from Anna Soto this morning and she has gotten many responses already of people who think they know Diana. We are planning on doing a followup story soon.
super dad is right. now i dont know with all the hippa laws the hospital may not help. what was your mothers name??
August 4, 2009 at 9:36 a.m.check with the local churches they may have attended then I would check hospital records (if possible)to find kids birth and go from there.
Police records are good too. WHAT IS YOUR MAMA's NAME??? Sounds like mom was not too stable so there may have been records of her reporting domestic problems or seeking medical aide. Good Luck and hope Advocate keeps us posted on your success!
August 4, 2009 at 9:27 a.m.Mom's name would help.
