Obit for Ortiz

Aaron Gunner Ortiz, 9, of Markham passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 23, 2009 at his home. He was born March 29, 2000 in Bay City to Robert Ortiz and Carmen Flores Ortiz. Aaron was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. His greatest accomplishment was receiving his first communion on April 26, 2009. Aaron was a fourth grade student at Markham Elementary. He received Commended Performance for the Reading and Math TAKS tests, and was an A student. Aaron was also a Baseball player for the Tidehaven Little League. He was a very outgoing person and left a positive impression on people whether young or old.

He is survived by his mother: Carmen Flores Ortiz of Markham; father: Robert Ortiz of Corpus Christi; brother: Robert Andre C. Ortiz of Markham; sister: Carmen Adrianna Ortiz of Markham; grandmothers: Carmen S. Flores of Collegeport and Mercidez C. Ortiz of Corpus Christi; uncles: Raul & Nora Flores of Freeport, Flavio & Christina Flores of Chula Vista, CA, Richard & Patricia Flores of Edinburg, Pete Flores of Baytown, Gus & Lisa Flores of Freeport, Vincent & Nora Casanova of Corpus Christi, Martin & Eloisa Casanova of Pasadena, TX, and Adam Ortiz & Paul Ortiz of Corpus Christi; aunts: Julia & Ruben Gonzales of Markham, Rita T. Flores of Roundrock, Tina Ortiz of Corpus Christi, Patricia Casanova of Corpus Christi; and many cousins. Aaron is also survived by his 2 dogs: Faith and Chunk; cat: Allie; and bird: Paco. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents: Manuel & Rita Salinas, Robert & Felicitas Flores, and Vicente & Alta Garcia Casanova; grandfathers: Raul V. Flores and Pete Ortiz; uncle: Henry Casanova Sr., cousins: Esteban Gonzalez and Mark Aaron Casanova.

The Rosary was held 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass was held 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment followed at San Jose Cemetery in Bloomington, Texas. The pallbearers were: Ruben Gonzales Jr., Ricky, Daniel, Miguel, Gabriel, & Edward Flores.
