RUNGE - A man was killed and 11 children injured Friday after a head-on collision involving a school bus.

Matthew Scott Loving, 30, of San Antonio, was headed west about 4:10 p.m. on Farm-to-Market Road 885 about one mile east of Runge in Karnes County, according to a trooper report released Sunday.

Priscilla Moreno Jackson, 35, of Runge, was driving a school bus registered to Runge Independent School District headed east on the same road when Loving's 2005 Chevy suburban swerved into the eastbound lane. The bus did not have time to react, according to the report, and collided head-on with the suburban.

Loving was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Gilbert Garza, of Karnes County. The children, ages 5 through 17, were taken to Otto Kaiser Hospital in Kennedy.

Loving's body was taken to Eckols Chapel in Kennedy.

  • It is always sad to hear someone has passed due to a tragic car accident, but I am just so very thankful that nothing happened to the children on the school bus. God Bless the Loving family and may Matthew rest in peace.
