Flames engulfed a refrigerated tractor trailer filled with beer early Monday morning. The trailer crashed on U.S. Highway 59 at the Guadalupe River south of Victoria.
Emergency officials received a call at 4:41 a.m. about an 18-wheeler on fire in the southbound lane on the river bridge.
The southbound lanes were closed during the investigation, but re-opened Monday afternoon.
The truck driver had a blowout and struck the guard rail, according to Ron Pray, Victoria County fire marshal.
The wreck ruptured a gas tank and sparks ignited the fire, he explained. No one was injured.
