Who do you blame when people die?

Editor, the Advocate:

Just a thought on why we should thank God that the people aboard the airplane that landed in the Hudson were saved?

If that is so, who do we thank or blame if one or more had died? What if a child dies in a car accident - same thing, do we blame God then?
