THUMBS UP
A big thumbs up to the people in Victoria and the Golden Crescent Area and beyond who came to Cuero's Christmas in the Park. We had a banner year and could not have done it without your generous donations, compliments and suggestions. See you in November 2009.
December Events Committee
Cuero
Thumbs up to Trent Peterek and Mike Johnston and all the others who are 'paying it forward' to help those who lost their homes. People in this area know how to take care of their neighbors.
Mary
Cuero
Thumbs up to John Sharp, who has filed papers for the Senate seat being vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchison. Sharp would represent Texas in every way, and he is economy savvy.
Carol
Victoria
THUMBS DOWN
Thumbs down to all the shootings we've had lately.
Terry
Victoria
Thumbs down to people who dump their trash and garbage along side roads in the area.

FROM THE EDITORIAL BOARD
THUMBS UP
Thumbs up and welcome to the folks of the "Outlaw Monster Truck Spectacular" coming to Victoria for the first time this weekend and providing residents with a form of entertainment they've not seen before.
Thumbs up and a big attaboy for Victoria's own ambassador of good will, Gary Moses, who has been so tireless for so many years in helping all those he touches.
Thumbs up for all the people responsible for bringing the admission-free documentary film, "Drug Wars: Silver or Lead" to Victoria, a very important font of information on one of the most serious issues facing the world today.
THUMBS DOWN
Thumbs down to the current configuration of college bowl games. New Year's Day is just not the same since they've spread out bowl games up and down the calendar.
Thumbs down on the continuing violence and death in the Palestinian-occupied Gaza Strip, where we hope cool heads will prevail on both sides of a conflict in which a lot of innocents are dying.
Thumbs down on the situation in Calhoun County, where homeowners may find themselves in jeopardy as the city and county squabble over who will pay for firefighting personnel and equipment.
