Two Refugio residents died Saturday night after the vehicle they were driving in collided with another vehicle near Bayside.

Blasa Carrillo, 25, of Refugio was rounding a left-hand curve in a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville on the northbound side of Farm-to-Market 136 at about 5:45 p.m, according to Texas the Department of Public Safety. The vehicle was driving at a high speed and drifted off the roadway, officials said.

When Carrillo steered the car back onto the roadway, the vehicle skidded across into the southbound lane of 136.

The right passenger's side of the Pontiac struck the front of a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban that was going south on 136.

Carrillo's passenger, Marc Clinton Cervantes, 40, of Refugio was killed upon impact. Aransas County Justice of the Peace Patrick Daly pronounced him dead at the scene at 8:30 p.m.

Carrillo was airlifted to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi where she died later that night in surgery.

After the collision, the Chevrolet went off the roadway into a ditch. Driver Amancio Bazan, 63, suffered a broken hip and lacerations.

He, his wife, Guadalupe Bazan, 63, and daughter, Leslie Bazan, 28, all of Rio Grande City, were transported to Christus Spohn.

Guadalupe had bruises and lacerations, Leslie multiple cuts and bruises.

All three are in stable condition.

Leslie's three children, Ashley Bazan, 11, Deric Bazan, 5, and Erica Bazan, 1, also of Rio Grande City, were in the vehicle as well.

Ashley and Deric sustained cuts and bruises, Erica suffered cuts. The two sisters were taken by ambulance to Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, while their brother was airlifted to the children's hospital.

All are in stable condition.
