The old hose truck has been provided with new wheels and axles and treated to a coat of red paint with black trimmings and presents a substantial and handsome appearance. M. E. Cline painted the truck and Frank Zirjacks did the repair work, charging only for the materials.

The largest excursion of home-seekers ever brought here will be chaperoned to this city this week by the Allison-Richey Land Company. It will comprise over 300 people and will be divided into three sections, the first section arriving tomorrow.

With three squads actively engaged in practice at this time, Victorians who like their basketball are certain of plenty of attractions this winter. The Victoria Junior College Pirates, Coach Milton Perkins' Victoria High School Stingarees and the YMCA quintet are working our almost daily at the "Y" floor to get into condition for the tough season just ahead.

Stressing the fact motorists are urged to obtain their 1934 automobile license plates as early as possible in order to avoid the last minute rush, Andrew Hickey, registrar, stated today car owners have until Feb. 1 to pay their fees for the new year.

January 6, 1959

Walter E. Dickerson of Victoria Monday was named full-time executive director of the Texas Industrial Commission, E. C. Germany, commission chairman, has announced.

The veteran civil engineer has been on loan to the commission from Victoria Bank & Trust Co., where he is a vice-president and director of the Department of Industry and Agriculture.

January 6, 1984

One of the three Budweiser eight-horse teams was in Beeville Thursday to participate in a dedication ceremony held by Tandol Distributing Co., The Clydesdales appeared complete with the antique beer wagon and three Dalmatian mascots.
