Editor, the Advocate:
I am writing regarding the railroad crossing article that was featured in the Oct. 5 Victoria Advocate. I know someone who lives in the neighborhood and who will be one of the many who will be inconvenienced with the six to eight trains a day that are predicted to run through the only entrance into the Brentwood neighborhood.
The neighborhood is concerned about how it will prevent them from getting in or out when the trains are passing. The neighborhood plans on petitioning the city of Victoria, Victoria County and Kansas City Southern to provide their neighborhood with another entrance from the divided Highway 59 to their south.
They believe that extending Cambridge Street south to the divided highway seems to be an option. They have also spoken to the Stewart Stevensen Company in joining them on this petition.
The Brentwood residents have some valid concerns regarding emergency situations, such as fires, medical emergencies and the loss of property values. It looks like Kansas City Southern needs to take all this into consideration before they get these trains running.

I find it odd that everyone is making a big deal about one entrance/exit into Brentwood yet nobody has even blinked an eye that out in the county there is (and always has been) only one entrance/exit into Coleto Bend, River Oaks, Shady Oaks, and the other housing addition out there. Don't those folks have emergencies too?
