A Goliad County Sheriff's vehicle was in a minor car accident Tuesday morning in the greater Houston area.
Deputy W.O. Williamson, the jail administrator of Goliad, was transporting a prisoner to another facility in the Houston area at around 7 a.m., Goliad Sheriff Kirby Brumby said.
Either Williamson, the driver of the other vehicle, or both attempted to change lanes on a freeway and collided, Brumby said.
No one was injured and Williamson dropped off the prisoner and returned to Goliad. The vehicle sustained a "slight bump" of its right front fender, but will not require repairs, Brumby said.
Houston Department of Public Safety said they had no details about the exact location or time of the incident.

Citizens: Stay alert, stay aware. Listen, Watch, Wait. and Worry.
January 16, 2009 at 9 p.m.When I first moved to Goliad a couple of years ago, I was warned that the KKK was in the county. I never saw anything that would make believe that, but I do hear the whispers... And now I'm hearing other pieces of information on this thread.
I liked most of what Sheriff DeLaGarza did for the little time I've live in the county but can't really speak for the time before me.
That said, my dogs ripped the "vote for me" sign right off of the campaigning Brumby's truck - they took an instant dislike to the man. I haven't seen enough of what he's doing to have an opinion on whether he is good at the job or not, but time certainly will tell.
This thread has certainly been an eye-opener anyway.
January 16, 2009 at 4:33 p.m.Oh Man!!!! THEINSIDESKINNY: Just a teacher sounds like you don't have respect for our educators. Being borned and raised in Goliad makes your guy over-qualified. Damn yall have some smart birthin rights...
January 16, 2009 at 2:09 p.m.You would think the JA would be in the jail doing his job. That's what the officers are for. Besides, I understand the jail is understaffed now anyway, so that makes more sense to be there instead of running around the streets.
January 15, 2009 at 10:53 p.m.DANG!!!!WATCHDOG30 I WORK AT THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND HAVEN'T HEARD MOST OF THAT STUFF.ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE GONNA HATE AND THAT'S WHAT IT BOILS DOWN TO.
January 15, 2009 at 12:36 p.m.Hey, I have no grudges against the guy. I just think that the public needs to see what this guy is and what he is blind about. I think the wrong people pushed him in and it will show in the long run.
January 14, 2009 at 10:27 a.m.I don't think the people in Goliad are laughing, if they even got that dumb joke. These people are supposed to be protecting their county and they are sleeping on the job!! Good Night. I'll sleep more soundly than the people of Goliad and that transport officer.
January 13, 2009 at 10:44 p.m.ROFLMAO.......<gasp> <need to catch my breath>....proven fact, we need to breathe!
January 13, 2009 at 10:32 p.m.Well, that must be because they haven't banned the sun in Houston. Proven fact, we need the sun.
January 13, 2009 at 10:19 p.m.Geez people, it was HOUSTON! Everybody in Houston will be in a wreck in Houston sooner or later. It's not like it happened in Moulton.
January 13, 2009 at 9:49 p.m.Wow. Such a picky and defensive group! I had to come back and read after seeing it on the "most viewed list." Whatever reason there is so much interest, one thing is for sure. When you are an elected official everything you do or don't do will get scrutinized. I'm sure Mr.Brumby and his posse were guilty of this during election from what I can gather from the comments. My mom used to say..."What goes around....comes around." Mr. Brumby will probably get used to this sooner or later...probably sooner than later it seems!
January 13, 2009 at 9:35 p.m.OK, enough has been said. Hopefully you won't be reading any more bad news from Goliad. But stay tuned, stay informed. And be very, very afraid.
January 13, 2009 at 5:31 p.m.Wasn't Ratcliffe involved in a serious traffic accident when he was sheriff, out of town in his official capacity?
People, accidents happen! The deputy was doing the job he was getting paid to do. The accident would have occurred no matter who was sheriff! It's not Brumby's fault, so stop, get a grip, deal with it!
January 13, 2009 at 1:06 p.m.I agree with "oldtimer". Why does it matter?
Here are the facts:
1. Kirby Brumby is the new Sheriff.
2. People have accidents.
3. Luckily NO ONE was injured.
4. The Jail Administrator was performing official duties.
So let it go and move on.
January 13, 2009 at 10:09 a.m.From reading the story the Advocate published: It seems the officer from Goliad was simply transporting a prisoner. Official duty, Simple story, enough said. The guy had an accident: why make it into a rehash of the election whether you agree with the results or not of the election. The new sheriff is in office and a simple on the job accident does not reflect on his attributes as to whether he is a "good" or "bad" sheriff.
January 13, 2009 at 10:04 a.m.Hey LBB! Victoria County elected a crossdressing felonious fag to the Sheriff position! Let's not throw stones!
January 12, 2009 at 10:58 p.m.Sorry, Smartee, never have been nor would I aspire to be in law enforcement. Just a long time Goliad County resident.Too bad T. Micheal's home residence is in Victoria County. He would have been a great asset. Victoria County is lucky. They have a real lawman; experience, education, and PEOPLE SKILLS!!! COMPRENDE?
January 12, 2009 at 10:32 p.m.All I can say is that I knew this new sheriff when he was a teacher years ago, and the local yokels in Goliad better be afraid. He is not all that he appears to be. He doesn't know I live in the county now, thank God!
January 12, 2009 at 9:04 p.m.unclemarty, or shall I say, probable former GSO employee, why? Why is it so important that you know what the accident report says? If it is the deputy's fault, then what? If it's not, then what?
January 11, 2009 at 11:31 p.m.You have been nothing but ugly on here, and seem to have the reda$$ for Williamson. Did he get your job or something with the new administration? If I'm right, your attitude may have had something to do with it.
When will the accident report by HPD be released by Mr. Brumby? And I hope that this comment won't be deleted by the Advocate..it is a real concern. Citizens need to know what is happening with the new administration in office.
January 11, 2009 at 10:20 p.m.So was there a ticket issued in Houston? Sheriff Brumby was pretty vague in his answers. Lawsuit??? You know it man. This inmate will probably complain of "neck pain" if he hasn't already!
January 9, 2009 at 2:01 a.m.I think it's great that Goliad County has a Jail Administrator that is not afraid to roll up his sleeves and do what needs to be done. As far as the accident goes, I'm glad that no one was injured. Anyone that drives for a living knows that it is one of the hazards of the job. I COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO ANYONE!
January 8, 2009 at 6:38 a.m.unclemarty, what do you mean when you state "WHY WAS THE JAIL ADMINISTRATOR DOING TRANSPORT DUTY? AND WHY IS HE BACK IN GOLIAD ANYWAY?" Did he work at the Goliad Sheriff's Office before and if so, why did he leave?
January 7, 2009 at 2:04 p.m.Ugottabkidin
WHY WAS THE JAIL ADMINISTRATOR DOING TRANSPORT DUTY? HE CERTAINLY HAS STAFF UNDER HIM THAT ARE MORE FAMILIAR WITH CARRYING OUT THOSE DUTIES. AND WHY IS HE BACK IN GOLIAD ANYWAY?
