Wishing for a good job from the president-elect

Editor, the Advocate:

RE: Congrats President-elect Obama.

Even though I voted for John McCain, you were elected and you are our president elect. What you do in office affects all Americans just as President Bush's term in office did. I wish you well, but please remember that a good or bad economy can be replaced with no economy and that is the aim of our enemies. They have vowed to take revenge on you and us for your abandoning your father's Muslim belief. President Bush faced 9/11 and had kept us from another. I can only hope you can duplicate what he has done.

In the Navy in 1948, I used to make money ironing uniforms for my shipmates. Sometimes the wrinkles were pretty bad, but like The Duke, John Wayne, said, he loved America "even with all of its wrinkles." Some wrinkles are very tough to get out. In this case, one of those wrinkles is racism, which will be hard to iron out.

With all of the wars going on all over the world, President Bush will be more than happy to hand the job over to you. Once again, I hope you do as good a job at National Defense as he has since 9/11.

    Good commentary. I also wish the president-elect a good presidency term. I pray that he follows in the footsteps of President Bush by keeping our country safe. Even the Houston Chronicle, one of the most liberal newspapers in the nation, gave our president credit for keeping us safe after 9/ll. People seem to have forgotten the attack during Clinton's administration, then 9/11, and who knows what is being planned as I write this. I do agree on the issue of bringing our soldiers home except for strategically placed forces for retaliation if necessary. We need as many soldiers as possible on the homefront. Texans will do their part to defend as most of us have our own arsenals for hunting. Most of us are crack shots as well.
