Editor, the Advocate:
I am currently attending Memorial High School as a senior, and I have a increasing interest in the proposed four-year university plan for the University of Houston-Victoria. Being someone who is not particularly looking forward to searching for the time and money for an out-of-town college and the adequate place in which to live, I really and truly believe that this idea is among the brightest that I have witnessed in the four years that I have been a resident of Victoria.
I haven't a need nor a desire to delve into my criticism of the "other" choices made by this fair town, but be not mistaken, for I have begun to acquire a bit of respect for some fair-minded individuals, which I knew were in existence among some of the other decision makers.
I am pleased that, finally, a genuine opportunity to expand Victoria into something more than "the movie theaters" or "the mall" has surfaced. The benefit is not only for me or other aspiring students; it spills over into the growth of a city in need of something more significant. I hope that this proposal is heavily considered and for the betterment of Victoria as a developing city a new four-year university is approved and erected soon.

This is great for Victoria, and opens the doors for more students to pursue their career choices. The room and board is what breaks the bank, and staying home is just good money management; especially in this day and age. I would have stayed in Victoria to finish if it had been possible.
