The Victoria Art League is gearing up for a busy month. On Sunday, the league will hold their monthly meeting and demonstration in their building at 905 S. Bridge St. A social will begin at 2 p.m., with the meeting at 2:30.
Marie Frankson, a local artist, will present a program on painting with alkyds, a combination of oils and drying medium, according to a league news release.
The meeting is open to the public.
Beginning Tuesday, a new class in oils for beginners will be offered at the Victoria Art League by Frankson. She has studied art at The Victoria College and has studied with various artists in Texas, and most recently, traveled to San Miguel de Allende for a workshop on the culture, architecture and landscape in that colonial historic city of Mexico.
The class will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning Jan. 13 through March 3 in the Victoria Art League classroom. A $20 deposit plus a building use fee is required, according to the news release. Instructor fees of $20 per lesson will go toward the Victoria Art League Building Fund. Scholarships are available upon request.
