Editor, the Advocate:

I am writing to you about my concerns of safety in public schools. I have attended public school all of my life. There have been many times when I have been threatened in the classroom and did not know how to react. Should I have told the teacher or talk to a principal?

Our schools should be proactive and let kids know what to do if they ever are threatened or not comfortable in the classroom, hallway or lunchroom. Let's get the word out that you do not have to be scared to talk to a teacher or administrator. We should not have to be reactive. A safe environment helps to promote better learning.
