GANADO - A highway department drainage improvement project will begin Thursday near Ganado, affecting traffic on state Highway 172 for about five months.

The construction includes building a paved ditch in some areas and removing or replacing some driveway pipes on the roadway for 4/10 of a mile south of Farm-to-Market Road 1157.

There could be minor traffic delays along state Highway 172 during the work, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Transportation.

Rexco Construction of Port Lavaca was awarded the contract for this work in the amount of $ 249,000.
