Shannon Permenter has been selected as the athletic director and head football coach at Boling.

Permenter intends to begin his duties Wednesday after receiving unanimous approval from the Boling school district board of trustees on Tuesday night.

Permenter was an assistant coach at Bryan last season and previously worked as an assistant at Needville, Medina Valley and Rice Consolidated.

"I was looking for the right situation," Permenter said. "Boling was one of those places where I thought it would be a great place to be an athletic director."

Permenter will replace Neal Majewski, who resigned in November after eight seasons at Boling, including four as the athletic director and head football coach.

Boling went 1-8 last season and had a 1-4 record in District 29-2A.

Charles Butcher, superintendent of the Boling school district, said the district received 90 applications and interviewed five candidates before he recommended Permenter.
