CUERO- DeWitt County Sheriff's Office deputies detained two suspected illegal immigrants Thursday morning near Hennessy Road and alternate U.S. Highway 77.

About 9:15 a.m., Department of Public Safety Trooper Frank Mercado attempted to stop a 2000 Dodge pickup for a traffic violation. After a brief pursuit, the truck stopped and about 10 people jumped out and ran into the brush, DeWitt County Sheriff Jode Zavesky said.

A local resident helped deputies locate a man from Mexico and a woman from Honduras. They were detained and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the sheriff said.

The search for the others continued for about an hour before being called off.

  • Brittanicus: You're right about Judicial Watch, it tells the truth about illegal immigration and how this country is being overrun by illegal aliens. I would be willing to bet that there are 20 to 40 million aliens in this country and more coming every single day. Another good place to hear the truth and have the opportunity to contact you U.S. Congresspersons, free of charge, is "Numbers USA."

JUDICIAL WATCH is one of very few advocate watchdog legal groups that see illegal immigration, as a progressive cataclysmic nightmare for the working American. The fact is America settles the largest population of new immigrants in the world. The liberal media number of 12 million illegal aliens hasn't changed in ten years? The courts are Judicial Watch strongest tool against such issues as illegal immigration--not immigration, E-Verify, sanctuary states and cities, foreign national gang members, the NAFTA/CAFTA unfair trade agreements that are stealing jobs, outsourcing US jobs, political corruption, the originally planned border fence and other criminal enterprises that fester below the surface.
