Editor, the Advocate:

I am writing to share my concerns on book shortages at Memorial High School. This year, we did not have enough chemistry books to go around. I don't believe its fair that not everyone gets a book, plus it causes many problems for the teachers and students.

Adding to the problem: Students are starting to take the classroom set, and we do not have enough books for the classes. They do have an online book, but it's not very effective. What about those people who don't have a computer? I guess no homework for them. The online book also takes forever, and the pages turn so slow. I would think with such a big school they would give us enough books for everyone, but I guess not.

  • And they want to have a uniform dress code!!That means that they'll have to supply uniforms for all the poor families that cannot afford them.
The teachers complain every year that they don't have the supplies they need in the class room.
My daughter took a PE dance class in the fall and spring of her freshman year and the shoes for that class never arrived. I wonder if VISD ever ordered them!
