It's funny how the media is playing Obama as the panacea for all ill's in our country...the world. Many of you are in for a major let down in the coming months. Exactly what has Obama done, other than run for office??? This is going to be quite entertaining...the next 4 years that is. I predict the only thing that changes, is government spending on a social scale that will make Marx proud!
January 19, 2009 at 8:43 p.m.heatherrocha....You refer to the world that Bush left us. First of all Bush was the President at the wrong time. He is not the all mighty powerful. He can only do so much. The people to blame for the economy and the state our country is in,is the congressmen and senators. The president can not pass laws, approve spending, and do anything before it goes to the house or senate. Capitol Hill is at fault for the situation this country is in. Bush have veto many bills that congress and the senate went on and passed. I know he is not the best choice for a leader but he has only so much power then its up to the people we elected to represent us on capitol hill. Everyone hated Clinton but if you look at his record. Our country was financially stable when he left office. So if you want to blame someone put the blame in who really deserves it. Also put some blame on the people of our country. The greed has brought on this depression recession or what ever they want to call it. Oil prices shot up. Medical bills my god doctors are just licensed robbers. The drug companies charge a arm and a leg for meds that cost a fraction of the price to make. Housing a house that in the past would value at 55000.00 was being sold for over 100K. Cars are costing as much as a house. So if you look at the whole picture you would see that its not really all Bush's fault. So give the man a break.
January 19, 2009 at 8:27 p.m.I THINK ITS WONDERFUL TO BE ABLE TO WATCH THIS EVENT. AN INAGURATION OF A PRESIDENT IS HISTORY IN THE MAKING NO MATTER WHAT COLOR THE PRESIDENT ELECT IS. ITS HISTORY PEOPLE! SO WHAT IF ITS FREE THIS AND THAT, DONT WE ALL NEED A LITTLE "FREE" THESE DAYS. WELL WITH THE WORLD BUSH HAS LEFT US IM SURPRIZED IM STILL ABLE TO PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE AND CLOTH MY DAUGHTERS BACK. FOR YOU BUSH SUPPORTERS I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU, WITH YOUR PRESIDENT YOU WOULD BE HOMELESS AND HUNGRY SOON. THANK BUSH FOR THE PROBLEMS AND OBAMA FOR FUTURE SOLUTIONS. TUNE IN TO HBO AND MAYBE SOME OF YOU WILL GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE GUTTER AND SEE CHANGE COMING IN OUR GOVERNMENT. IF ALL YOU SEE IS COLOR THEN SHAME ON YOU. I PERSONALLY WILL BE TUNED IN.
January 19, 2009 at 1:49 a.m.i have some websites riverboat if your interested. lol.
January 19, 2009 at 1:11 a.m.I, for one, don't begrudge Obama a little partying on his big night. The headaches will come the next day, and I ain't talking about no hangover, nuther.
January 19, 2009 at 12:57 a.m.As for watching the historical event on a scale of Alexander defeating the Persians (or so I'm continually told), I can catch all the non-stop, commercial-free action on my beloved C-SPAN. If I ever want soft-porn, I'll call Cable and let them know.
i can watch obama being sworn in on the internet or on fox. the only reason why i even cared about hbo was the porn.
January 19, 2009 at 12:36 a.m.I find it amusing that he continually states in order to get our economy back up & rolling, everybody will lose a little skin, yet this dog & pony show is costing 150 million dollars. 1.5 million is 1% of the total costs. It is completely ludicrous & a slap in our collective faces. No innauguration should cost the tax payer this much money.
January 18, 2009 at 10:44 p.m.I think that they are making this too blown out. We are at war! He will be America's top target and they are going to keep his where abouts well known. I really believe that if the terrorist want to strike that will be a day. Everyone who is anyone including Oprah will be in Washington that is a prime area for target on that day. I am glad I am not anywhere near that and would not want to be. Thanks to our wonderful press its going to be well covered. Our recession/depression is not of concern to them all they want to do is just party and show the world that we have elected a man of color as our leader. But the laugh is on everyone Obama is not the first black man to lead a country he is just the first one for our country. The color of a persons skin does not make them a great choice. The ability to lead and make the right decisions it what makes a great leader. Lets see if the choice that our country made is the right one. I say Obama did chose a great #2 man I know Biden will make a great leader if he has to assume the role.
January 18, 2009 at 10:21 p.m.I guess Obama didn't get the memo about our recession/depression. Is he paying for this out of his own pocket, or the DNCs moneychest? Or is this coming out of our tax dollars? Personally, I did not approve this spending.
January 18, 2009 at 8:46 p.m.Oh great, Obama spends $150 million on his party and I get to buy generic food at the grocery store.
Isn't communism wonderful?
Woof
January 18, 2009 at 2:26 p.m.HBO paid $1.5 for the exclusive rights to televise the star-studded event,in 1993 they paid about $1.3 for the same privilege.
January 18, 2009 at 12:59 p.m....Makes good business sense to air it for free (HBO coming events ads) since this historical event will be televised to very large world TV audience.
I believe every TV comes packaged with a remote and the TV has an off switch.
Periodically HBO,Cinemax, the baseball network will offer free week-end viewing to lure in customers.
Would you like fries with that super-sized sour grapes sandwich.?
No....if it was McCain and Palin there would be no free anything and if there was I would be just as appalled.
January 18, 2009 at 11:46 a.m.How ridiculous!!! People...Jesus has not returned.
January 18, 2009 at 11:33 a.m.I feel sorry for the people with SuddenLink!
January 18, 2009 at 10:56 a.m.Woohoo, let me get right on that. Another station I will have to block.
