The same day thousands of Americans in cities and states across the country will march in protest of abortion, about 200 area residents are also expected to do the same in Victoria, an organizer said.

The 22nd Candlelight March for Life will be on Thursday, the anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling to legalize abortion in its landmark case Roe v. Wade, organizer Paul Tasin said.

The march's purpose is "to stand up for the unborn babies," Tasin said.

After the march, a rally will be held at Grace Lutheran. Rev. Stan DeBoe, pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, will speak about social justice, Tasin said.

Life and Family Advocates, an anti-abortion group of about 1,400 members based in Victoria, sponsored the march.
