HALLETTSVILLE - Grabbing an early lead, the Faith Academy Lady Cougars turned back the Hallettsville Sacred Heart Indianettes 50-45 on Tuesday in a TAPPS District 9-2A girls basketball game.

The Lady Cougars (21-6, 3-1 in district) took a 27-15 lead at the half and then held on after being outscored 30-23 in the second half.

Kayla Escalante paced the Lady Cougars with 15 points, while Stormy Clark added 14 and Emily Graff 11.

Kadee Bludau, Jennifer Kallus and Ariel Medrano paced the Indianettes with eight points apiece.
