Billy Mann and Barbara Sliva were named the 2008 Man and Woman of the year by the Bay City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture during their 86th Annual Banquet on Friday. Mann worked diligently for Celanese for 15 years before retiring into the farm and ranching business full time. Sliva has worked in several accounting firms and now owns her own with several partnerships. Both Mann and Sliva are participating members in many local organizations and have given themselves whole-heartedly to the Bay City area for many years. Also awarded on Friday were the Matagorda Area Man and Woman of the Year and the countywide educators of the year. (For more pictures and information, see page 3F.)
