HALLETTSVILLE - Two hundred entries will take to the show ring in the market division of this weekend's Hallettsville Junior Livestock Show.

Market swine lead the way with 146 animals vying to make the auction.

"The numbers are about the same again this year," said Paul Cook, Hallettsville ag teacher. "Commercial heifers may be up a little, but other than that it's pretty much the same."

Students have entered 32 pens of commercial heifers.

Entries in the market show include 28 steers, 26 lambs and 28 pens of broilers.

The breeding show includes 24 swine, 17 heifers and one breeding sheep.

Other than moving the livestock into the show barn and weigh-ins, the action begins Saturday at 6 p.m. with the broiler show, followed by the breeding show at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, shows begin at 12:30 p.m. with the swine first, followed by lambs and then steers.

On Monday, commercial heifers will be judged at 8 a.m. The market sale is scheduled for 7 p.m.
