The St. Joseph Lady Flyers will try to better last year's fifth-place finish at the TAPPS Southern Region Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at the Conroe Independent School District Natatorium.
The Lady Flyers scored 55 points in last year's Division II meet and will have more swimmers competing in this year's meet, which gets under way at 9 a.m.
St. Joseph junior Kimi Carrier won three gold medals at last year's regional meet. Carrier won the 50-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke and teamed with Kelly Janak, Jory Schroeder and Josie Kisalus to win the 200 freestyle relay.
The Flyers finished 11th in Division II at last year's meet with 14 points.
The top six finishers in each event automatically qualify for the state meet and will be joined by the next four fastest times in each event from both the North and South regional meets.
The state meet is scheduled for Feb. 6-7 at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio.
