MHS swimmers pick up gold, silver

CORPUS CHRISTI - Memorial's Victor Huber and Justin Priesmeyer each won a gold and a silver medal Saturday at the District 27-5A swimming and diving meet at the CCISD Natatorium.

Huber won the 200-yard freestyle and finished second in the 100 freestyle, and Priesmeyer won the 50 freestyle and finished second in the 100 backstroke for the Vipers, who finished fourth in the boys team standings with 67 points.

Memorial's Dalton Lynch earned a bronze medal by finishing third in the 50 freestyle.

Huber, Priesmeyer, Lynch and Justin Gonzales teamed up to claim bronze medals in the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.

The Memorial girls team of Maggie Johnson, Kelsay Ross, Kassie Hoerig and Lauren Lightfoot earned a bronze medal in the 200 medley relay.

The Vipers finished third in the girls team standings with 43 points.

Converse Judson won the girls championship with 238.5 points, and Corpus Christi Carroll won the boys title with 158 points.

The top six finishers in each event advanced to the regional meet, which is scheduled for Feb. 13-14 at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio.
