EL CAMPO - Residents may learn about new developments with a water supply project that would pipe water from the Lower Colorado River Basin to San Antonio.
Two meetings on Tuesday will reveal findings from studies on aquatic habitat, agricultural conservation, groundwater, facilities, waterfowl and Matagorda Bay, Emlea Chanslor, spokesperson for the Lower Colorado River Authority, said.
The studies began six years ago after LCRA and the San Antonio Water System signed an agreement to share water.
Meeting attendees may ask questions and provide input. More study results will be revealed in the coming months.
The next phase in the process would be applying for state and federal permits.
The studies will help both entities to know whether or not to proceed with the project, Chanslor said.
The river authority must determine if the project protects the lower basin. The water system must judge if the cost to its ratepayers would be too much.
