DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A Dickinson man charged in a Dunn County shooting death has been sentenced to serve about a year in prison on a weapons charge.
Benjamin Orf pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors. He was sentenced to 1½ years in prison with credit for about half a year already served.
The charge was filed against Orf after the shooting death of 49-year-old Neal Matejovsky of Dickinson, whose body was found in a Dunn County field on April 10. Authorities say Orf was Matejovsky's stepson at one time.
A Texas man, 40-year-old Shane Miller, is accused of shooting Matejovsky twice. He has pleaded not guilty to murder.
Dunn County State's Attorney Ross Sundeen says he plans to file more charges against Orf related to Matejovsky's death.
