A Tuesday morning thunderstorm drenched Victoria and left some areas without power for several hours.
Most of the outages took place in northwest Victoria, near Loop 463 and West Mockingbird Lane, said Elgin Janssen, external affairs manager for AEP Texas, Victoria. Others were along North Navarro Street and East Crestwood Drive.
Two breakers inside a substation on U.S. Highway 87 North went out, he said.
One breaker, which serves 1,270 customers, went out about 5:19 p.m., he said, due to lightning and wind. Power was restored to all customers by 7:40 p.m.
The other switch, which serves 1,440 customers, had a high voltage line down and all customers were back on line by 7:55 p.m., Janssen said.
The storm brought in 1.1 inches of rain, said Katie Roussy, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi. By 9:30 p.m., Tuesday had seen 1.15 inches of rain total.
No confirmed funnel clouds or tornadoes swept the area, Roussy said, but winds gusted at 68 mph.
Victoria should remain dry for the next few days, with high temperatures exceeding the 100 degree mark.
More rain could hit this weekend, Roussy said.
