"Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and for ever."
Today, I was lovingly asked why I started each of my "Oceans for Emotions" articles with the word "today." How could I start an article that appeared today with "today," when everyone knows that I didn't write it today, seemed silly especially since it was going to be a religious article?
I answered truthfully, "I don't know, I just do."
Now I feel like I am religiously required to start each article off with a different beginning. After writing "Today" for 28 years it is rather hard to do.
I could use, "Verily, verily I say unto you ..." But God already used that, and it is hard to upstage God.
"Today is the day that you dreamed about yesterday ...," but that has been tried till fried in The Farmers Almanac, and it never did make much sense.
How about, "And it came to pass in those days ..." But Luke got that one first in his Gospel.
Ah, what if I started off with, "A Letter to the Fishermen," but that reeks of the Apostle Paul to the people of Corinthians, Galatians and Ephesians and all his other letters to his "ions" friends and followers.
God and Moses did all the big stunts, like burning bushes, parting seas and Ten Commandments set in stone, and I can't top them.
"Hi, ya'll" might remind everyone about the Paula Dean cooking show, and a bunch of people might go make a meal out of her holy trinity, butter, mayonnaise and sour cream instead of reading my article.
I've taught so long, that I feel like starting it like I did my classes, "OK, cool it and let's have roll call," but as loud as I could say that, someone might think the second coming is coming.
Today, I will defiantly begin my article with "today." Just call it a God thing.
Dear Lord, TODAY, I got so wound up in words, I got a backlash in my memory. Nevertheless, even though the tides are low and the winds high, I love You today, yesterday and for ever.
