Editor, the Advocate:
Michael Jackson has been the love of my life since I was 5 years old. The first time I saw him on TV, he was 18. From then on, I watched him on TV when my mother and father would let me, which they did just about every time. You know every one of Jackson's fans say that they are his biggest fan, but I believe in my heart that I am.
I couldn't follow Jackson's every move, like magazines and newspapers and such. My parents made sure I got all his records that came out when I was growing up. My room was covered with clippings and posters of him.
Jackson gave so much to people and children, and had done so much just for anyone he could. I don't believe Jackson would, or even could, hurt anyone, let alone a child. Jackson was, is, and always will be an icon for our world of people. Jackson is the best there was, the best there is and the best there ever will be. Jackson can be imitated but never duplicated. Jackson's death never really hit me till I started writing this. It has hit me for sure now. I'm sitting here, my eyes full of tears and I'm breaking down. I guess I just couldn't bring myself to believe that the king of pop is gone. I've always wanted to go to one of his concerts, but never could afford it.
I've seen a few on TV, and I was pretty happy and content with that.
Still, today, I would have loved to have been at one, watching him from the front row. My daughter Cissy, 11, loves Jackson and everything he stands for. Daughter like mother. My two boys, Aj, 15, and Noah, 13, like his music but are not really big fans. My husband of 18 years, Jeff, 40, loves his music and doesn't believe the bad things people said and say about him. Since I found out that Jackson has passed, I've been listening to his music and watching his videos all day long, every day. Like I said, Michael Jackson is an icon, the best there was, the best there is and the best there ever will be.
People can imitate him but never duplicate him. We love you Michael.
Rest in peace. Love.
