MOULTON - Voluntary water restrictions are in affect in this Lavaca County town due to ongoing drought conditions and resulting high water demands, city administrator Deck Shaver said.
In a news release, Shaver indicated the Stage 1 restrictions were instituted after the city's water demand reached as high as a quarter of a million gallons per day in recent days, almost double the normal usage.
Water customers are asked to voluntarily limit irrigation of landscaped areas to Sundays and Thursdays for street addresses ending in even numbers, including zero, and Saturdays and Wednesdays for street addresses ending in odd numbers. Customers are also requested to limit the watering to the hours of midnight to 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. to midnight on those designated days.
Customers are also asked to practice water conservation and minimize or discontinue water use for non-essential purposes.
