Editor, the Advocate:
There was an article written in 1997 by Dr. Alice von Hildebrand (renowned Catholic philosopher), which states, "One of the greatest moral dangers threatening us today is that all of us, constantly exposed to the horrors shown on our TV screens and artful propaganda of 'liberal views,' have become morally blunt and blind. Assisted suicide, scientific research on fetuses, and the abortion of millions of helpless infants are accepted as a matter of course. Now that a democratically elected U.S. president (William Jefferson Clinton), abetted by his wife (Hilary Rodham Clinton), officially defends the right of a woman 'to control her reproductive organs' - that is to say, makes the murder of an innocent child a 'right' - and proclaims that he will veto any bill prohibiting partial birth abortions, we should realize that we have hit rock bottom of moral decadence."
I am not sure if Dr. von Hildebrand is still alive and well, but if she is, I am going to have to let her know that our current administration, led by Barack Obama, your anointed one, is steering our boat on course so leftist liberal that it is making the Clintons appear to be conservatives.
Did you read what Obama said prior to his nomination of Sonia Sotomayor for Supreme Court judge? Obama stated that his pick must share his views that the Constitution is to be interpreted in light of today's realities, not those of the founders. This administration is destined to take every reference to God out of our schools, city and nation, and will do so against your will through the court system. We have a rich faith-based heritage, beginning with the founding fathers, that is being stripped away. No longer are we endowed by our creator, but endowed by Obama. We will never achieve the dream envisioned by Martin Luther King Jr. to be judged by character and not skin color as long as the administration is allowed to continue unchallenged and hold God in contempt.
So, Dr. von Hildebrand, we did not hit rock bottom in 1997, but we will do so during the Obama administration. America as we know it will disappear unless we ask almighty God to bless our nation once again and bring us out of our moral bankruptcy. I am not giving up on the American people. We must pray daily for the conversion of heart of this liberal administration.
