Miss Bonnie Blades Abell and Mr. Mark Walter Muecke were united in marriage on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at half after seven in the evening at The Church of Saint John The Divine in Houston, Texas. The candlelight double-ring ceremony was performed by the Reverend Laurens Allen Hall and assisted by The Reverend Edward Weathers Abell, great uncle of the bride, and The Reverend Bertrand Oliver Baetz III, friend of the groom. Mr. George Allen Jr., grandfather of the bride, and Reverend Bert Betz delivered the scripture readings. Steve Newberry, organist, The Ambient Arts String Quartet and Teddy Heard Orr, soloist, provided the music for the ceremony.

A reception followed at The Houston Country Club with entertainment by The Tip Tops. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at River Oaks Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Miles Abell III and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Nelson Allen Jr. of Houston, and Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Miles Abell Jr. and Mrs. Ann Staacke Rivers of Austin. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael David Muecke of Bay City, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Elmo Walter Muecke and the late Dr. Muecke of Three Rivers, Texas and Mrs. Loyd Wilbur Miller, and the late Mr. Miller of Three Rivers, Texas.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a gown designed uniquely for her by Lisette Lux Haute Couture. The dress was fashioned in an ivory silk satin Italian organza. The fitted bodice featured a sweetheart neckline and was embellished in a Chantilly lace with cap sleeves, and belted with an antique buckle from which a full circle skirt was designed and appliquéd with ivory Chantilly lace. The lace was taken from her maternal grandmother’s dress and beaded with Swarovski crystals. The skirt was finished at the bottom with organza knife pleating to the end of the chapel length train. She wore an 18th century Belgian lace mantilla veil belonging to Mary Anderson Abell. Her bridal bouquet of ivory roses, stephanotis, and orchids was attached to a mother of pearl Bible, also carried by her great grandmother and mother on their wedding days.

Miss Julia Abell Gleason of College Station served her cousin as maid of honor. Serving as bridesmaids were Miss Alexandra Baer, Mrs. Shelby Gressett, Miss Hadyn Jobe, Miss Kate Kovac, Miss Meredith Cerie Muecke, sister of the groom, and Miss Beth Wilson, all of Austin, Miss Haley Harding of Denver, Colorado, and Miss Jordan Allison and Miss Lauren Lucas of Houston. Members of the house party were Mrs. Betsy Kelley of Amarillo, Miss Lauren Billingsley, Mrs. Caroline Oliver, Miss Amanda Roam, and Miss Elizabeth Roam, all of Austin, Miss Sarah Hill of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Miss Sarah Claire Conner and Miss Julie Owen of Dallas. Miss Claire Walton served as flower girl.

Mr. Matthew Thomas Muecke of San Antonio, served his brother as best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Joseph Miles Abell IV, brother of the bride, of Houston, Mr. Scott Christy, Mr. Will Fawcett, Mr. Reeves Hollimon, Mr. David Mauzé, and Dr. Richard Walton, all of San Antonio, Mr. Brian Lent and Mr. Keats Norfleet of Austin, and Mr. Tyler Thomas of Dallas. Serving as ushers were Mr. Taylor Dorris, Mr. Robert Dullnig, Mr. Ben Gray, and Mr. Paul Rohlfs, all of San Antonio, Mr. Will Schwarzlose of Austin, Mr. Scott Gardner and Mr. Drew Thornton of Houston, and Dr. Nicholas Haddock of New York. Mr. Ford Jones served as an acolyte.

Bonnie is a 2003 graduate of Episcopal High School in Houston, Texas. She attended The University of Texas where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She graduated in 2007 with a B.A. in Spanish and a minor in education. She has taught Spanish at The Girls’ School of Austin, and in August will teach Spanish at Saint Mary’s Hall in San Antonio. Mark is a 1996 graduate of Bay City High School in Bay City, Texas. He is a 2001 graduate of The University of Texas where he received a B.A. in Economics and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Mark is Vice President of Kercheville and Company, a locally owned securities firm in San Antonio.
