A Gregory man was arrested Tuesday in a sting operation after he attempted to solicit a minor to meet him for sexual relations.
Gabriel Antonio Abrego, 29, attempted to meet with a Victoria girl, younger than 17, at her home on Farm-to-Market Road 3035 about 3:30 p.m., according to a Victoria County Sheriff's Office arrest report.
Abrego had an outstanding warrant charging him with sexual assault of a child with the same minor.
Investigators supervised the girl in her home as Abrego texted and talked to the girl in a sexually explicit manner while he traveled from Gregory to meet her, according to the report.
Upon his arrival, Abrego was arrested on the warrant charging him with the sexual assault and online solicitation of a minor with intentions of sexual contact.
No further information was available.

Missk, I agree. This girl obviously has a previous sexual encounter with this man and her parents found out. They did the right thing to inform the police. However, before you (rukiddingme and barracuda 1122) judge just him, you may want to know the full story. Most teens are sexually active and this is just one relationship that was caught on time. He does need to pay for his actions, but at the same time, she needs to re-evaluate her social life and learn from this experience.
August 5, 2009 at 12:13 a.m.I believe that it was very brave of this young girl to go to her parents and let them know what was happening! With the cooperation of the girl and her parents the police were able to arrest this monster. Lets hope the system follows thru and punishes him well.
July 31, 2009 at 11:03 a.m.I wonder how they found out about this guy. Did the parents catch the girl chatting with him or was the whole thing a set up? This is why parents should always be aware of what their children are doing when online.
