YOAKUM - Two men have been arrested and Yoakum Police expect more arrests to be made in connection with a string of business and residential burglaries in the community the last several weeks.
Donald Miller Jr., 24, and Clinton Curtis, 39, both of Yoakum were arrested during the weekend in connection with some of the recent break-ins, Yoakum Police Chief Arthur Rogers said.
At least three homes have been burglarized, along with H&H Bakery, the Yoakum school district tax office, Cooper Chevrolet, the Store, Rusty Rooster, Yoakum Pawn Shop, St. Joseph School, Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Yoakum Music Center and City Drug Store, Rogers confirmed.
He did not elaborate which burglaries the men were connected to or any other locations that may have been burglarized.
Rogers said his department has recovered some of the stolen property, is following up on leads and anticipates further arrests.
In Gonzales County, David Lynn House, 41, of Caldwell, and Tommy Lee Barnard, 26, of Harwood, have been charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft. They have confessed to burglaries in Gonzales County, the cities of Gonzales, Luling, Harwood, Caldwell and Lake Somerville in Burleson County as well as in Caldwell County and in Bastrop County, according to a news release from the Gonzales County Sheriff's Office.
More charges are expected to be filed and more arrests are pending, Chief Deputy Dennis Richter said in the release.
Items recovered by the Gonzales County Sheriff's Office include firearms, televisions, window air conditioners, outside air conditioning units, four-wheelers, loading ramps, a welder, tools and an assortment of other items. These items were stolen from homes, farms, churches and businesses across the area, according to Sheriff Glen A. Sachtleben.
Although no connection has been made between the burglaries in Yoakum and in the Gonzales area, Rogers said looking into that would be part of his department's investigation.
