Perhaps there are no greater touring buddies than legends Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp.

The best part is they'll be at ballparks in Corpus Christi and The Woodlands this week. All three are exceptional songwriters, especially Bob Dylan, who is considered to be the poet-laureate of rock 'n' roll.

Personally, I'm a big Mellencamp fan. My favorites are "Human Wheels," "Cherrybomb" and "Pink Houses."

Dylan and Nelson are a little before my time, but have each had a huge impact on the music industry. You can bet Dylan will sing his "Blowin' in the Wind," and "Like a Rolling Stone," and Nelson his "Whiskey River," and "On the Road Again."

Texan Willie Nelson has performed in Victoria before. Once he came to the Armadillo Festival in the 1970s. He sang at Fossati's and another time at Sun Valley Ranch.

Dylan, 68, and Mellencamp, 57, are both Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame inductees (Dylan in 1988 and Mellencamp in 2008).

Nelson, 76, was inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2001. Dylan was inducted in 1982.

This isn't the first time the trio has toured together. They last toured back in 1985 as part of the Farm Aid benefit, a concert that raises awareness about the loss of family farms. This October, Nelson and Mellencamp will join forces for Farm Aid again, alongside Dave Matthews and others, in St. Louis.

Dylan, Nelson and Mellencamp have all left legacies of their own. All three are icons. All three are poets with impressive catalogues. All three are going to knock your socks off this coming week. Be ready.
