Mrs. Katy Wendler

Katy Genevieve Evans and Walt Whitlow Wendler were joined in Holy

Matrimony at 3:00 pm on Saturday, the 25th of July at Holy Cross

Catholic Church in Bay City, Texas. Officiating the double ring

ceremony were Father Casimir Jarzombek and Father Michael Sis,

uncle of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Sam and Yvonne Evans of Bay City. She

is the granddaughter of Matt and Clarice Ottis and Regina Evans and

the late S. O. Evans, Jr. all of Bay City.

The groom’s parents are Wilson and Cheryl Wendler of Bryan, Texas

and David and Valerie Bourque of Salado, Texas. His grandparents

are Glenwood and Joan Wendler and Dean Raymond and Janice Sis

all of Bryan.

Escorted down the aisle by her father and given in marriage by her

parents, the bride chose a Maggie Sottero one-piece, strapless satin

gown. The “Olympia” features an asymmetrical waist and corset

back with a sweep train. The gown is embellished with bugle beads

around the bodice, down the back, and around the hem of the train.

Her shoulder length tulle veil had matching bugle beads. Katy

borrowed the tiara that her sister wore in her wedding. For

something old, she carried her Nana’s prayer book, which she

received from her husband as a wedding gift. Both her mom and

sister also carried it in their wedding bouquets. Katy’s mom

fashioned a blue garter with the new couple’s monogram as

decoration. She carried a cascading bouquet of fresh white calla lilies

accented with bear grass designed for her by her aunt Sharon

Organist Mark Kinsey and vocalists Marsha Petter and Clay and Sean

Breeden performed the couple’s chosen songs: “Bach: Jesus, Joy of

Man’s Desiring”, “Sheep May Safely Graze”, “Pachalbel: Canon in D”,

“Clarke: Trumpet Voluntary”, “We are Many Parts”, “Here I am

Lord”, “The Lord’s Prayer”, Twila Paris: “How Beautiful”, and Widor:

“Toccata from Symphony No. 5”.

Kimberly McMillan stood by her sister as matron of honor.

Bridesmaids included college friend Jessica Barnett, childhood friend

Krystle Hanzik, cousin Erica Harton and junior bridesmaid Samantha

Bourque, sister of the groom. The women wore lapis-colored satin

halter ball gowns with side ruching and overlay skirts. They carried

white calla lily nosegays accentuated with bear grass and misty blue.

Standing by his brother’s side, Waylon Wendler served as best man.

Acting as groomsmen and ushers were friends Justin Sitz and Jason

Wilson, his future brother in law Clint McMillan, and cousin Weston

Wendler. Ring bearer Landon McMillan preceded his aunt as she

walked down the aisle by pulling a white carpet for her entrance.

The men wore a Perry Ellis tux with a single calla lily boutonnière.

Lectors were the couple’s godparents, Frank Ottis, Melinda McClain,

Roselle Linder, and Jeff Kubin. Bruce and Susan Keischnick and Ricky

and Terri Busha assisted as Eucharistic ministers. Presenting the

gifts were the bride’s cousins, Kacie and Kari Rosser, Ashley Harton,

and Connor McClain and serving as altar boys were cousins Jacob

Harton and Ryan Denby.
