June 7 - The Advocate learned from a trustworthy source several days ago that the Sunset would build a new depot here at an early date. An Advocate man questioned Superintendent Jones about the matter this morning and was informed that the railroad people had the matter under consideration for some time, and that an entirely new depot, or virtually new depot would be built at once, most likely the former.
June 13 - Besides the pictures at the Princess Theater Sunday will be an illustrated song, "A Sweeter Story Still," sung by Mrs. Haynes.
1934
June 7 - Many of the pavement skips on North Main Street and East Goodwin have been covered making it possible for traffic to pass over, however, the covering must be laid. This will be done shortly, it is understood.
June 8 - A 35-gallon still was seized by two Victoria County deputy sheriffs near Bloomington this morning. The owner was arrested and placed in jail here. He will be turned over to Federal authorities.
June 12 - Counterfeit nickels, quarters and half dollars are very much in circulation here, according to many of the leading businessmen of the city. Merchants are urged to be on the lookout for the coins. It is believed a majority of the smaller coins are being placed into slot machines in an effort to obtain the good money in the machines.

June 9 - Victoria County Commissioners Court will sit at the courthouse June 18-19 as county board of equalization for 1959-60, it was agreed at the regular meeting yesterday. County Judge Frank H. Crain said state law requires that county commissioners serve as the agency which hears any taxpayers who want to protest changes in assessed valuation. Tax Officer W.P. Larson said those wanting to protest have been cited for appearance before the court sitting as a board of equalization. Total assessed valuation of real estate in the county was estimated at $70,000,000. Crain said the tax rate of $1.06 per $100 is due to remain unchanged when collection is launched by the tax office on Oct. 1.

June 7 - Gonzales - Four buildings were damaged but no serious injuries were reported after a tornado struck in north Gonzales at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. The tornado was spawned by an upper level disturbance that moved through South Texas Wednesday, dumping badly needed rainfall in many areas.
June 8 - The University of Houston-Victoria may soon become linked to the most extensive computerization program in public education in the nation. The University of Houston System and Digital Equipment Corp. announced Thursday in Houston they are assembling a computer network with potentially $70 million that will allow mini, micro, and main-frame computers throughout the entire UH system to interconnect.
