Love him or hate him, you have to admit, he's hard to ignore.
Bill Maher will be bringing his particular brand of political humor to Austin this summer. The stand up comic and star of "Real Time with Bill Maher" is going on tour and unleashing zingers such as:
"Republicans keep changing their story on torture. First it was, 'We didn't torture,' then it became, 'OK, we tortured, but it worked,' now it's 'Nancy Pelosi said we could.' "
"I can't take people who say 'We built this country.' You built nothing. The railroads were pretty much up by 1980."
"Stop leaving couches on the sidewalk. You know, besides being lazy and ugly, it's animal cruelty. You teach your dog not to pee on the couch, and then when you take him to the place he's supposed to pee there's a couch."
Maher will be performing at 8 p.m. July 10, at Bass Concert Hall. Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

I used to like Bill Mahr before he went all cabley, now I can't stand him. He is not only a hater of anything & everyone religious, he seems to be a hater of women as well. He is smug, self righteous , pompous, unattractive, extremely rude & not even remotely humorous.
June 11, 2009 at 8:03 p.m.I, and probably a lot of folks on this thread have no idea what you just posted.
If you are just now figuring out that I have taken a side, not yours, then I don't know what to tell you.
You do appear to like the drama. If that is not the case, then maybe you should look at how you present.
Oh, and by the way--what you say about me isn't true. So now what?
June 11, 2009 at 4:50 p.m.Mike--Great post. I miss Bill Maher. I think he is a riot!
By the way, BigJ--as if. You would like a stalker because it would give you more drama. You are simply not happy unless you are in the middle of everything Advocate.
Advocate--when are we going to get some relief?
(if this post gets deleted, I will use it as evidence in my discrimination lawsuit.)
June 11, 2009 at 12:13 p.m.He does BigJ and he made a movie on that very subject (mocking religion)but he is not encouraging anyone to hate believers;just mocking us that do.....That is his opinion and I don't get my religion from him...It's the totality of the person.

It’s OK if you hate Bill Maher but I don’t think he is like Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh.
I happen to like Bill Maher but I don’t like his take on religion.
1.Bill Maher is a comedian but very knowledgeable of politics
2.Bill Maher does not have a daily show knocking everything conservative.
3.Bill Maher is realistic and does criticize Democrats and Obama although he claims ties to both.
4.Rush Limbaugh was listed as one of the GOP leaders in a recent USA Today poll; Bill Maher is not even in the top 1000 as a leader in the Democratic Party.
5.Bill Maher is a not a perpetrator of hate.
The Bill Maher Show on HBO gives a new look at today’s political leaders because they can go on his show ,forgo the talking points, and let their hair down…Can’t do that on Hannity’s show Different format where screaming is the norm.
It was on Bill Mahers Show where Tony Snow and Matthew Dowd revealed that George W. Bush was not really that inquisitive or as Mr. Dowd said “the job was above him.”
I don’t think you can compare them; it is one of those apples to oranges and grapes.
What makes you think that?
