THUMBS UP
Thumbs up to the Senate Finance Committee for suggesting that taxes be raised on alcohol, wine and sodas. I believe this to be a great way to pay for health care. The only ones affected are the people who purchase these items. For once, our government has come up with a good tax.

Thumbs up to the president for not giving up his search for something good to say about America. Keep looking Mr. President, there has got to be something good about America that you like. Perhaps this warrants the appointment of a czar to help in the search. You think?

Thumbs down to the city of Port Lavaca. It is not doing its job of cutting all the tall weeds and grass.

Thumbs down to the Victoria Advocate. When I lived in Edna, I received my paper by 5 a.m. daily and by 6 a.m. on Sunday. When I lived in Cuero, my paper arrived at around the same time. Now that I live in Victoria, I get my paper daily around 6 a.m. and somewhere between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Sunday. I don't understand why the closer I live to the Advocate the longer it takes to get my paper.

Thumbs down to all the people who don't keep their trash off our streets. We have trash pick-up twice a week. Shame on you all.

I hear they're trying to tax us for passing gas! us bean eaters are in trouble then!
June 13, 2009 at 9:58 a.m.VBB, excellent! I never cease to wonder at people who look and other people and support a tax on THEM! The "tax other people" is a sad and very sick, selfish attitude! Does Larry not realize that the proposed tax would also tax sugar? Does Larry not eat anything with sugar? VBB, thank you for THINKING!
June 13, 2009 at 9:22 a.m.Larry......be careful what you are gleeful over. When they can no longer generate enough revenue from one item, they tend to target another....yours may be next.
For the people who are for universal healthcare & then happy that they dodged the tax to pay for it, all I have to say is put your money where your mouth is (or whatever orafice it is that you are speaking from), until then, your opinion means very little to me.
