BOLING - A man cutting tree limbs on a home received an electric shock after coming into contact with power lines Saturday morning.

About 10:20 a.m. the man was cutting tree limbs in a man lift when he lost sight of the power lines, contacted them and received the shock, said Boling Volunteer Fire Chief Kevin Bannert.

Bannert had no information on the man's identity or the company he worked for.

The electricity caused a short in the lift and it took officials about 20 minutes to lower the machine manually.

Bannert said the man was in critical condition and had to be airlifted to a Houston hospital for medical treatment.

Wharton County Sheriff's Office and Wharton Fire Department also responded to the incident.
