YOAKUM - Tim McCoy beat the incumbent Yoakum city councilman Tuesday in a runoff election.

McCoy received 158 votes to incumbent Don E. Bowe's 140 votes. The runoff was necessary because none of the three candidates in the May 9 election received more than 50 percent of the vote. McCoy received 100, Bowe received 103, and Cindy Martin received 67.

McCoy, 39, is an account manager for Hochheim Prairie Insurance.

Bowe, 74, is retired from the city of Yoakum. He had served on the council since June 2000.
