May 5, 1909

John Webb, foreman of the Keeran Ranch near Inez, and a most worthy young man, and Miss Maude Murphy, a fair and accomplished young lady of San Antonio, were married at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James T. Harrison last evening. Justice Hirschhauser officiated.

May 5, 1934

The first public concert of the new Victoria Municipal Band at the Public Square will be held Friday night at 8 p.m. The public is invited. Listeners are requested to get out of their cars and be seated near the bandstand, where they can fully enjoy the music. Seats will be arranged by the Victoria Band Commission composed of B.S. Fritz, H.A. Lawrence and Fred Schneider.

May 5, 1959

The city of Victoria passed its 574th day Monday without a fatal traffic accident inside its corporate limits. It was a record unequaled in the city's modern history and possibly the best traffic fatality record for than city its size in Texas. Police Department accident statistics compiled yesterday for April showed only 50 traffic collisions with 8 injuries reported.

Opening ceremonies were held Friday for Riverside Park's newest water attraction, a sculpture by Elsbeth Woody of New York and joint project of the City Parks and Recreation Department and Open Door Creativity Center. Estimated cost of the project was $7,900.
