WHARTON - Ryan Cruz Reyes, 20, of Boling, was charged with evading arrest during an early Tuesday morning incident that led to the evacuation of a small community.
He was also charged with violation of probation in an unrelated evading arrest charge from September.
The incident started when a sheriff's deputy was investigating a report of a burglary alarm sounding at a Boling business. He attempted to stop a car, which refused to stop. The driver turned off the highway into the Iago community, said Lt. Daniel Marek of Wharton County Sheriff's Office.
Iago was evacuated after the car struck a piece of oil field equipment during the chase causing oil and saltwater to spew out.
An additional arrest is anticipated, Marek said.
