Stroman was newer but "across the tracks". So what you're saying is the people who pay the most taxes should get the best stuff while the others should just make do? With the new schools all will be equal.Thank God!
May 27, 2009 at 1:14 p.m.Kenny, It's not about pretty, it's about equality. If 1 high school would have been built it would have been on the north side with all the rich kids going to it. The other 2 schools would have been the lesser ones with no perks. Remember how dear ole' SHS was treated like a red-headed step child? Well hopefully that won't happen again. Please give the new schools a chance. Everyone is working hard to come to a good end. The offer to come to MHS still stands.
May 27, 2009 at 1:01 p.m.Sheetrock? Sheetrock? Are they serious? In a school? Anyone with any brains knows you never, ever, ever, ever, use sheetrockin a school? That had to be a misprint. Pray tell me they are not sheetrocking classrooms and hallways! This is ludicrous.
May 27, 2009 at 11:02 a.m.we did need the new high schools. those of you who always complain should spend a day at the high school and see what really goes on. teachers are trying but without parental support it is very hard.
May 27, 2009 at 10:34 a.m.scarlett61,
What elementary schools do not have fences around them and their playground areas? I don't drive by all of the schools Victoria has, but I've never seen one that doesn't have a fence. I'd like to know.
May 27, 2009 at 10:15 a.m.My ex is a roofer & yes they used gypsum board for the decking.....
May 25, 2009 at 9:11 p.m.I hope they are not using inferior materials not made in the USA!
May 25, 2009 at 8:53 p.m.Gypsum board is sheetrock. It's the chalk stuff (gypsum) sandwiched in between the two sheets of heavy gray paper. Remove a switchplate cover in your house and look at the edges of the hole.
When I was a kid, there was lots of building going on in my neighborhood. We would take the broken scraps and use it like chalk to draw all over the driveways and the sidewalks.
May 25, 2009 at 8:45 p.m.gypsum board is for the roof
May 25, 2009 at 8:01 p.m.Can anyone tell me why 1 elementary is using "sheetrock" and the other is using "gypsum board"? Isn't it the same thing?
Also I drove out by Ella Schorlemmer Elementary today, nice new cyclone fence all around the playground. It is really a shame that every elementary school in the district can't have a fence put up and paid for by the district. Maybe once something happens to one of the students on these other campuses then something might be done about insuring the safety of all VISD students when they are on the playgrounds.
May 25, 2009 at 7:38 p.m.Rukiddingme i agree with you.
