Update on Crossroads residents serving in military

Master Sgt. Michael E. Dvorak is retiring from military service after 23 years. He entered the U.S. Army Reserves in November 1983 and the Air Force in April 1986.

In addition to serving in the United States, he was also stationed in Germany and Korea during his career.

His numerous awards and decorations received during service include the Air Force Commendation Medal with five clusters, Air Force Achievement Medal with two clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with seven clusters, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with gold border, Air Force Longevity Service with four clusters, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with one cluster.

He is the son of Luella Dvorak of Yoakum and the late Raymond Dvorak.

Justin W. Hagel has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army after successfully completing the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program and graduating with a bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces. He is the son of John A. and Donna R. Hagel of Victoria. Hagel is a 1999 graduate of Industrial High School in Vanderbilt.

Sgt. Shamus D. Salazar of Victoria, completed the Battle Command Sustainment Support System Basic Operation Course. He is the son of Pete A. Salazar of Victoria and the late Jean O. Salazar. His wife is Veronica Soliz Salazar, of Victoria. He is stationed at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Camp in Hattiesburg, Miss.
