Shiner church strudel bake is Nov. 14

SHINER - The 23rd Annual Homemade Apple Strudel Bake, sponsored by Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, will be Saturday, Nov. 14, at the parish gymnasium.

On this day, hundreds of volunteers will share their time and talents to make more than 2,500 strudels. The volunteers include parishioners, as well as many friends of parishioners, who often come to see just how one goes about making thousands of strudels in one day. The volunteers range in age from teens to grandparents, and often include the local priests.

The Rev. Tommy Chen, parochial vicar of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, is planning to take his turn in rolling out a few of the homemade pastries.

The strudels are available to order in Shiner, as well as for delivery to several area cities.

In Shiner, order from Marjorie Kresta, 361-594-2361; or Quality Pharmacy, 361-594-2262. Pick up time in Shiner is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at parish gym on Saturday, Nov. 14. Orders may also be sent by e-mail to aduke@sscmshiner.org.

For Victoria delivery, call 361-573-5283. Victoria orders will be available at Our Lady of Victory Church parking lot from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15.

Unbaked strudels are $12 each, and baked strudels are $14. To be assured your order will be filled, orders must be placed by Thursday, Nov. 12.

Proceeds from this project are used to supplement the church's operating expenses.
