Editor, the Advocate:

Hello again. Yard waste again.

I have questions, and to me and to most of our citizens, they should be answered.

When our waste department came to us to buy X number of new waste trucks to save big money, they moved employees who didn't fit in the scheme of things. You gave each household one trash can free. If more were needed, we were charged $5 a can.

This seems fair. We have - the customer has a choice.

What I would like to know is where has all the savings gone? Or was there a savings?

The city will continue to use the old but still good waste trucks to collect waste that for whatever reason, the new trucks cannot service. Where are the savings?

A few things will happen if and when yard waste pickup is discontinued. Our city will see trash dumped in ditches and roadsides again.

I personally cannot haul off yard waste. I am disabled; therefore, my wife must take care of yard waste, and she is getting old.

If you are going to go the way of new trucks picking up yard waste, give me one can, and if I request a second one, then charge me.

I will make that choice. Thanks for letting an old taxpayer express my opinion.
