IF YOU GOThe Rockport Film Festival is Thursday through Sunday. For more information, call 361-729-5519 or go to www.rockportfilmfest.com.
Rockport has long been known as a haven of the arts. The small coastal town continues that tradition this weekend with its third annual Rockport Film Festival.
The four-day event, which begins Thursday, will highlight 40 independent films, from shorts to documentaries to feature-length films, according to a news release.
"The Rockport Film Festival provides a relaxed environment for industry professionals, film enthusiasts, students and the surrounding community to collaborate," Roc Curry, film festival director, said in the news release. "We have a tremendous following because this event is also one of the most economically feasible film festivals in the country, certainly in Texas."
Tickets for the festival range from $10 for one film block pass to $50 for an all-access pass to all films and events, including a red carpet reception, the Artfluential reception and a happy hour mixer.
Film showing headquarters will be at the Main Street Coffee, Deli and Art in downtown Rockport.
Sponsored by the Rockport Rotary Club and the Rockport Center for the Arts, all proceeds from the event will benefit the Center for the Arts and service projects supported by the Rotary Club, according to the news release.
