Hey, music fans,

When I listen to the Eli Young Band, I think of a rollercoaster of emotions we all go through in life.

Granted, they are a country rock band, but they're good at singing about feelings. If we've felt it, they've sung about it. One of their recent hits, "Always the Love Song," reminds me of those good old days, even life now, when you're just being with the one you love.

It's sometimes hard to find the words you feel toward someone, but a song can describe it perfectly. Like an anthem, almost.

They sing about break-ups, like in "Radio Waves" and "Enough is Enough" and how you keep wondering what went wrong. You try to make it work, but it just doesn't.

There's songs for when you're having a bad day, like in "When It Rains," one of the group' s earliest hits.

The Eli Young Band is optimists, they say.

"That's been a theme through a lot of our music," Jon Jones, the band's bassist, said on its official Web site. "It might be raining today, but it might be sunny tomorrow, so it's worth sticking around for."

Their latest album, "Jet Black and Jealous," released last year, is so well-written. Their lyrics are poetry, and their music is very soothing and fun. They've opened up for such superstars as John Mellencamp, Sheryl Crow and Dave Matthews Band.

Their song, "Bottom Line" on the "Level" album, describes their careers, as they started out small in Denton, and hope to make it big.

Most recently, they came to Ziegfest in Yorktown. Now they're coming back again this month. Thumbs up to Mike Eli, James Young and the rest of the band. I think they're awesome.
